Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

The practice group

After the information session, three group practice sessions are offered to implement the learnings of Nonviolent Communication (NVC).

The agenda for the sessions will be adapted based on the expectations of the participants in the information session. This group will allow you to practice NVC in connection with real-life situations so that you can use this tool in your daily life.

The examples used for practice can be real-life situations shared by participants or scenarios similar to real-life situations based on the expectations of the registered participants.

We will practice the key elements of Compassionate Communication:

  • Identifying our feelings and needs

  • Developing empathy for ourselves and others

  • Embracing our emotions

  • Moving beyond judgments

Dates and Time: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

  • Saturday, January 25

  • Saturday, February 1

  • Saturday, February 8

Location: 884 Sand Pines Drive, Comox, BC, V9M 3V3

Perspective on the group

Why a practice group?

We have all experienced trying a new recipe or a new activity. The first attempt is often not the most successful, and it is through regular practice that we perfect our sourdough bread, our pottery on the wheel, or swimming a full length of the pool.

Similarly, to communicate in a connected way using NVC, practice is essential. Becoming familiar with NVC concepts and practicing in a safe environment allows us to build confidence and train before engaging in real conversations.

It was also through a Nonviolent Communication practice group that I truly integrated NVC concepts into my conversations and my overall approach to life's events. Indeed, Nonviolent Communication is a life philosophy that offers the tools to live it.

Why only 3 sessions?

My goal is to keep this practice group going and offer continuity, allowing participants to build an experience that integrates into their daily lives.

These 3 practice sessions are a way for me to initiate action without feeling overwhelmed by this objective.

Over time, I will offer additional activities to deepen the practice of Compassionate Communication, complementing it with mindfulness techniques to:

  • Stay calm when a difficult situation arises

  • Strengthen relationships with the people who matter to us

  • Identify new ways to respond to conflicts

  • Transform our perspective on conflicts and see their potential richness
